On February 9 at 14.00 Human Rights Center Viasna is holding a press conference following the analytical review on rights of detained and prosecuted after the events on December 19th

Обыск в квартире активиста Антона Койкиша

В Минске начался обыск в квартире активиста Антона Койкиша. При обыске присутствуют родители Антона, трое сотрудников КГБ, двое понятых и вызванный следственной группой сотрудник милиции. Самого Антона в данный момент в квартире нет. Представители Международной наблюдательной миссии не были допущены в квартиру. Сотрудники КГБ отказались предоставить информацию о том, в рамках какого дела ведется обыск и о статусе Антона Койкиша. Сотрудник милиции, переписавший паспортные данные представителей наблюдательной миссии, отказался предъявить свои документы.

Обыск у Михася Мацкевича

По информации, полученной Международной наблюдательной миссией, сегодня в Минске прошел обыск у Михася Мацкевича.

Сам Михась, будучи в отъезде, не присутствовал при проведении следственных действий. Из квартиры были изъяты компьютер и портативные носители информации. Пока не удалось получить информацию о том, кто именно и в рамках какого дела проводил обыск.

On January 24th at 11:30 AM journalist Gennady Barbarich was detained at the club named after Dzerzhinsky.

Reporter of Radio “Ratsyja” Gennady Barbarich interviewed the wives of prisoners. KGB officers approached him, they asked him the documents and the reasons for his being there. After that, he was taken with officers.

OSCE Chairperson meets international human rights NGOs, encourages open dialogue

The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Ažubalis, met representatives from international non-governmental organizations in Vilnius today and invited them to take part in an open dialogue with Lithuania’s 2011 OSCE Chairmanship.

Minister Ažubalis met representatives from international non-governmental human rights organizations from the International Civic Initiative for the OSCE, offered to maintain a regular dialogue and urged them to actively participate in OSCE eventsand thereby contribute to the OSCE’s work.

Assistant of the Chairman of the International Observation Mission of the Committee on International Control over the human rights situation in Belarus has been detained during the monitoring of the observance of the freedom of assembly during the action carried out by citizens of Belarus in solidarity of detainees of the KGB Detention Facility.

Belarus: a month after December 19th. What's next? Press conference

On 19 January 2011, the Belarusian Human Rights House is hosting a press conference on the human rights situation in Belarus. International experts and representatives of human rights organizations from different countries will present their assessment of what is happening in Belarus from the human rights perspective.

Search in the office of the unregistered Human Rights Protection Center “Vyasna” (Minsk)

At the moment search in the office of the unregistered Human Rights Protection Center “Vyasna” (Minsk) has started. One representative of the Committee On State Security (KGB), three unknown persons, 2 legal witnesses required by the procedure and chairman Ales Belyatskiy are inside. Representatives of the International Monitoring Mission of the Committee on International Control over the Human Rights Situation in Belarus and local human rights defenders are at place waiting for the end of the search procedure.

The objectives of the report were limited to an impartial assessment of the events which took place on 19 December 2010, including civic protests on Independence Square, ensuing arrests and detentions, without analysis of the implementation and results of the Presidential elections.
